The Method

Authentic Montessori. Not the version on the box.

Maria Montessori's method only works when the whole classroom is built around it. We don't borrow the materials and run a different curriculum. We run the method, end-to-end, in every room.

Mixed-age classrooms
Three-year age bands. Younger children learn from older ones; older children consolidate by teaching. The room is the curriculum.
A prepared environment
Child-height shelves, real wood, ordered materials. Everything has a place; the child can take it down, work with it, return it.
Hands-on, not screen-on
Concrete materials — the pink tower, the counting frame, the sandpaper letters — come before any abstraction.
Child-led, guide-supported
Our guides observe, then introduce a material at the moment the child is ready. No rush. No queue. No standardised pace.

A day at Redwood

Quiet mornings. Busy hands. Long afternoons.

07·30 — 09·00

Welcome & soft start

Children arrive on their own schedule. A quiet greeting, shoes off, work mat or floor cushion. No bell.

09·00 — 11·30

The three-hour work cycle

The heart of the morning. Children choose materials, work alone or with a peer, return them, choose again. Guides observe and introduce.

11·30 — 12·30

Outdoor & garden

Free movement in the prepared outdoor environment. Tending plants, climbing, balance work, water play.

12·30 — 13·30

Lunch · prepared together

Children set their place, serve themselves, clear away. Practical life is the curriculum, not a chore.

13·30 — 15·00

Rest, quiet work, reading

The youngest rest. Older children return to extended materials, quiet projects, or the reading corner.

15·00 — 18·00

Afternoon work cycle & pick-up

A second, gentler work cycle. Parents arrive on their own schedule between 15·00 and 18·00.

Note Exact daily schedule and full/half-day session structure varies by branch and age group — confirmed during your tour.

Admissions

A clear, unhurried path from first hello to first day.

No surprises, no pressure. We expect parents to take the time they need to decide whether Redwood is right for their child.

  1. 01

    Enquire

Tell us about your child — age, preferred branch, when you'd like them to start.

  2. 02

    Visit the classroom

Tour your nearest branch. Observe a real work cycle. Ask anything.

  3. 03

    Register

We complete documents, set the start date, and assign a key carer to your child.

  4. 04

    Settle in

A gentle, staggered first week. Parents are welcome to stay as long as the child needs.

Fees

Fees vary by branch and programme. We send a current fee schedule for your chosen branch and age group with every enquiry — no published pricing until your branch is confirmed.

Your child's future is set up in the first six years of development. We take those six years personally.
