When to call

Signs that need urgent attention

If you notice any of these, treat it as an emergency and call straight away. When in doubt, call anyway — we'd always rather hear from you.

  • Difficulty breathing, choking or collapse
  • Severe bleeding, trauma or a road accident
  • Suspected poisoning or eating something toxic
  • Repeated vomiting, seizures or sudden weakness
  • Inability to urinate, or a distended, painful belly
