Step up from the street and the city falls away. Stained-glass light pools across rattan and dark wood, fringed lamps glow low over marble tables, and palms lean into the room. It is a Japanese restaurant with a jazz-age heart — built for long dinners, slow drinks and the kind of night you don’t want to end.

The kitchen plates for sharing: sushi and sashimi, robata skewers, tempura, clay-pot rice and grilled mains, carried by a bar that takes its cocktails seriously.
